One of the friends on the POTN forum brought up the subject of a live birds of prey exhibition, in a little town upstate New York. I found myself interested in this event – I never saw eagles or vultures up close.

Spring. Sunday. Japanese festival. (preview)
This weekend, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden (which, this year, celebrates 100 years since it was found) hosted the “Sakura Matsuri 2010″ Japanese festival. This year, unlike previous years, the cherry trees were not in blossom at the same time as the festival, but this was not a reason to impede the festival.
I was there today, for several hours, and as a teaser, until I get to process all the photos I’ve taken, I will post just one of them. This dancer was performing the “Butoh Dance”.
Fire on Broadway
I left my office on Tuesday afternoon, completely oblivious of what was going on the street. I came out of my office building to see many fire engines, news vans, ambulances, firefighters and paramedics. I found out that there were some manhole explosions earlier, and basement fires that affected several building on Broadway between W51st and W53rd streets.
2010 Grant’s Tomb Criterium (bicycle race) in New York City
I’ve been lazy (and too busy with other stuff) these last few weeks, but here I am with a report from the Grant’s Tomb Criterium (fancy word for bicycle race) that happened this past Saturday in the Upper West Side, here in New York.
The event was organized by Columbia Cycling, and despite the awful weather, a lot of racers showed up. The circuit was set up to circle the Grant’s Tomb National Memorial (click the image for the Google Maps page), and was about 0.9 miles long.
