Canon Rebel T2i / 550D gets good reviews

If you are into photography, you probably know about the new Rebel T2i dSLR launched by Canon in February 2010.

It comes with the same, excelent, 18MP sensor as the Canon 7D, same metering and video modes as the 7d, but with less features and obviously lower price – $799 for body only (that’s $900 less than the 7D).

The new PS5 and content aware fill

Update – please scroll down to find a link to a short PhotoshopSupport.com tutorial on how to use the content aware fill in PS5.

You all have seen the content-aware-fill video that’s been going around the web for the past several days. And if you haven’t, here it is again. (viewer discretion is advised, content is too cool)

Microsoft has a … photography blog

Yes, you read that right, I’ll even say it again –  Microsoft has a photography blog!

This is a bit of a surprise for me, but they’ve been online for about three years, first post dating July 2007. I am still digging through the blog, and it looks like it is closely connected to the Microsoft Pro Photo site (yes, another surprise, I never knew Microsoft is into photography).

There is a lot of content on both the Microsoft Photography Blog and on the Microsoft ProPhoto site dubbed “Microsoft Photography”. First blog can be found here and the site is here .

DxO labs add 70 new lens combinations for DxO Optics software

I have been using DxO Optics as my main RAW converter for a while now. You just can’t beat the lens distortion correction modules, and while I do like Canon’s DPP, DxO Optics is better and more powerful at RAW conversion.

I was waiting patiently to get the lens module for canon 10-22mm on canon 7D, and finally DxO released it, along with other camera/lens combinations. In total, they released 70 new modules!

Read here what DxO Optics does to correct lens “flaws”, and click here for the list of the new modules being released.
